It has been one and a half years since we started Dehati Bazaar, and what a journey it has been! These 18 months have been filled with countless bitter-sweet experiences—moments of pride, endless hard work, and of course, several challenges that tested us.

The origins of Bani-Thani take us back to the princely state of Kishangarh in the 18th century. It was here that the great painter Nihal Chand created the immortal image of Bani-Thani—a court singer, poetess, and the beloved muse of Raja Sawant Singh. Her sharp features, elongated eyes, arched eyebrows, and regal grace were captured with such devotion that the painting became the very symbol of beauty in Indian miniature art.

At Dehati Bazar, these incense boxes are more than just wooden holders; they are stories of survival and dreams. Each incense box is carefully made from wood board and hand-painted with vibrant floral designs. What makes it truly special is that it comes directly from the homes of poor but highly talented village artists. These artists, who often work from home to support their families, have long lacked a platform to showcase their skill. And that’s where Dehati Bazar steps in. By bringing their art to the world, Dehati Bazar has become a bridge between rural talent and spiritual seekers.
